December 3rd Meeting notes

Twelve Flychuckers enjoyed breakfast and several fishing pictures at the Black Bear, followed by the 9:00am meeting.

Phil E told of a 44 ½ inch musky caught by Ernie D on a #10 pan fish fly using an Orvis 7’4” 5 wt. rod. Phil landed the fish with a 12 inch net.
Phil also offered colored bead chain for sale. He has a surplus in three colors.

Gary O explained where the fishing term mooching came from and showed us a mooching rod and reel from the first half of the 20th century. The reel turns 90 degrees to facilitate casting and snaps back to retrieve the line. He also demonstrated several hand strength devices to be used to prepare your casting hand for next fishing season.

I will send an Email to all Chuckers whenever the blog is updated.   We also agreed that the blog can be used to notify Chuckers of sales, items you have to sell, new web sites, Expo dates and other items relevant to fly fishing
.
Meetings will be held weekly through the end of March, beginning January 7th; the exception being the Fly Expo weekend, which is March 23, 24, and 25.

Bring your fly tying equipment to the January 7th meeting; we will be tying.

Call for speakers. Several Chuckers are trying to line up speakers; we will post when the dates are firmed up. Any help securing speakers would be greatly appreciated.

Some Chuckers like Congo Hair sold by the Fly Tyers Dungeon.  I added the link to the Fly Tying Supplies http://www.flytyersdungeon.com/
