Chartreuse gifts next Saturday

Our Idaho sub-chapter of the Fly Chuckers, Phil Eldred, got together with a buddy in Nampa and a bunch of different dyes - and he  converted his stash of white Arctic fox tails into chartreuse, pink, dun, blue-gray, yellow, mint-green, (and a ?able variation or two) fox tail pieces.  He sent a CARE Package to us, and I will bring the pieces to Mike Schaefer's place (not GanderMountain) on Saturday morning.  Perfect for tying Clousers, streamers, etc., and free for the taking (or for a small postage donation to Phil).  Hope to see a bunch of you there.

(Will not open the packages at the West St.Paul Perkins, inasmuch as we probably don't want chartreuse and pink fox hair on our pancakes!)

Also, to further your education, did you know the origin of "Chartreuse"?  Sometimes described as a pale apple green, this color is named after a French Liqueur made by Carthusian Monks, a Catholic religious order founded in 1084 in the Chartreuse Mountains (near Grenoble, France).  The monks began making this liqueur as a medicine in 1737, using a base of distilled alcohol and wine aged with 130 herbs, plants and  flowers.  This secret formula is only known to two of the monks at any one time - and Chartreuse liqueur is still being produced in their distillery today.   And of course, it's Lefty Kreh's favorite color!
