Hook Problem Solved

The other day I needed a 3/0 long shank ring eyed hook, the nearest one was at a fly shop 30 miles away. I decided to bend the eye of a hook that fit the bill except for the eye. It broke of course. So while looking at the hook in the vice I decided to heat the eye before bending it on another hook. I heated it using a butane cigarette lighter until it started turning red then pinched the eye using the smooth jaw pliers that I use for pinching barbs. It worked.
